Bob’s Creek State Natural Area

Bob’s Creek State Natural Area would be the 43rd Park in our 2025 North Carolina State Park Challenge. It’s listed on the NCstateparks.gov website with minimal information. It was authorized as a new state park unit in 2017 and the land was acquired in 2019 & 2022 with a ribbon cutting in 2022. I emailed the Park Superintendent (whose email is listed on the website) to see if there were any addresses or trails accessible- he said the website is up to date and the land was previously owned by timber companies so there are no infrastructure in place. All parking lots, restrooms, and trails will need to be made and they’re in the process of doing that now. There’s a link on the website for the progress and plan of the Wilderness Gateway State Trail that will connect Bob’s Creek, Chimney Rock and South Mountains State Parks. So keep an eye out on the website for any updates! We will be visiting once they have an opening date and will update our blog here, enjoy!
