Singletary Lake State Park
Singletary Lake State Park is the 23rd Park in our 2025 North Carolina State Park Challenge. Located 50 miles Northwest of Wilmington- the park started out as large group campsites but turned into a State Park with the addition of public hiking, paddling, and fishing.
We went just for the hiking trail and to get our passport stamp. The stamp was easy- it was located at in a little box just outside of the park office so you can grab it yourself. As for the hiking trail- The CCC loop Trail is a 1 mile loop trail with a pier overlook. The first part of the trail follows along the lake until you get to the swim pier, then the path continues through longleaf pine trees on the way back. For only having one trail, it was a good one! We saw a some gorgeous flora and fauna and had the pier all to ourselves! The gazebo gives a large amount of shade coverage on a hot day and the benches add to a comfortable place to enjoy the lake.
The two group campsites have their own mess hall, basketball court, volleyballs court, and swimming area. One of the group sites fits up to 48 people and the other one up to 84 people. There is also a vacation rental cabin that fits up to 11 people. Applications for the cabins are available on the park website. Pets are not allowed in the cabins with the exception of service animals. Enjoy!
